A Traditional Apprenticeship Arlene Salomon is offering rigorous training and mentorship for people that want to study and become exceptional teachers of the full Classical Pilates system as passed down from 1st generation teacher, Jay Grimes. This unique opportunity is perfect for those beginning their Pilates journey as well as teachers who are already certified and want to deepen their understanding of Joseph Pilates' original method.
Objectives Of Apprenticeship -To be studious and able to assist the teacher at all times, and to project a consistent positive energy to each client and help maintain orderliness of the studio. -Learn Pilates fundamentals by practicing the exercises on the Pilates apparatus: The Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Electric Chair, Arm Chair, Spine Corrector, Small Barrel, Ladder Barrel, Pedi-pole, Magic Circle, Foot Corrector, Toe Corrector, Neck Stretcher, Airplane Board, The Wall, Bean Bag, Push Up Device, Breath-a cizer, and Free Weights. -Learn to teach others, work with different body types, develop your skills of observation, trust your intuition. -Learn basic anatomy, posture and body mechanics, learn to see asymmetries, dysfunction, weakness, tightness and understand how to work with the body in front of you, understand how to use the full Pilates system to guide your clients to be more coordinated, balanced, strong, efficient and fluent in movement.
Duration Of Apprenticeship 10-18 months consisting of at least 4 weekend workshops, Private lessions, classes, observation (for out-of-state students, some Private lessons, classes and observation may be completed at a pre-approved studio/location), self-practice, homework & specific on-line viewing w/written assignments, meetings, assessments, assisting, studio cleaning and apparatus maintenance, practice teaching. The duration of apprenticeship for Certified Teachers (of any background) will vary depending on teaching experience, understanding of the original method and performance ability. Total study hours are determined after an interview and a practical assessment.
For Like-Minded Teachers Instructors working at Bodywork & Pilates home-studio are selectively chosen by studio owner following application and apprenticeship. The apprenticeship is a prerequisite to studio rental opportunities as well as to acquire an in depth knowledge of the original/classical method, the teaching philosophy and independent class structure as passed down from 1st generation teacher, Jay Grimes.
One-Of-A-Kind Opportunity Work as an independent contractor but be part of a dedicated team of like-minded teachers in a tropical, open-air, home-studio fully furnished with Gratz apparatus. The bright, sunny space has a wall of glass sliding doors with the ocean in full view and opens up to the front of the property to include the spacious green lawn where we hold sunrise and sunset Mat Classes, just beyond that is a sandy beach also used for Mat Classes.
